— pure vanilla cookie would initially be saddened by it, but he understands your circumstances and reasons (unless you're lying) and afterwards stays a great friend nonetheless.

— if you're one to fight (as in you get aggressive thinking he's still trying to pursue you after you reject vanilla), he'd rather sit you down and sit down after to discuss it. he then sets it down that he accepts his rejection and is more than happy to stay friends with you.

— in all honesty, i can see him treating you and his feelings for you just like how he treated white lily and his feelings for her when she friendzoned him. wondering if he still likes you but saying nothing about it, treating you more gently and specially than the others and getting more defensive when you're attacked. he won't pull his whole not-eating shtick because you didn't go missing or anything like turning into an evil cookie, but he definitely still feels something for you.

— being friends with him is easy because he understands you rejected him and won't push anything upon you especially if you've found someone else (he's def. not the type to do shit like that, it's pure vanilla cmon).

— possibly has attachment issues after getting rejected by both you and lily and having feelings for them afterwards for an awkward amount of time while they still think of him as friends.

— hollyberry would stay jolly and accept the rejection. she doesn't pursue you anymore, and for a period she's a little disheartened by it. but it passes by quickly and she's still a great friend to be around.

— ... only that she's still wondering where she went wrong to this day. she pushed it away and treats you like how she treats everyone, but inside she's still wondering why that happened, because everything seemed to be going smoothly. she thinks of you as a close friend now, but still, what happened? where did she go wrong?

— if you were the type to fight, she's quick on her defenses and makes you talk it out with her, even if it's in front of a crowd. the same way she made dark cacao cookie come to his senses after he attacked the consul of the creme republic. heck, she might even use her shield if you're that aggressive. but know at the end of the day, hollyberry will have you sat down as if she's your therapist and will convince you to talk it out with her. this is an inevitable canon event.

— still a great friend nonetheless and accepts her rejection wholeheartedly, so accepting that your friendship with her doesn't get ruined at all! unless you have a grudge against her for the crush (...), nothing gets tarnished and you are truly just a friend after the whole fiasco. also, you most likely will end up with a conflicted hollyberry if you start loving her after she's convinced herself that it wasn't meant to be, so prepare for karma if you start having feelings for her again.

— but sometimes she falls back into this spiteful mindset that keeps her wondering why you didn't choose her and all those thoughts. that being said, after a period of time and maybe a talk or multiple talks with the light of passion, she does get over it and accepts it just wasn't meant to be. still, she doesn't let that tarnish her friendship with you and never brings it up unless you mention it first. but even then, she's more like "haha, yes, i once had a crush on [them], my dear friend! but worry not, i won't push [them] if [they] really don't want it!"; in the sense that she acknowledges it but doesn't push for anything to happen if you really don't want it.

— dark cacao cookie 🍫 ᯓ★

— dark cacao cookie is a strict and protective ruler, yes. but outside of his kingly demeanor, he's actually pretty emotionally vulnerable. always on edge, miserable even, pissed off, near aggressive, nervous, anxious.

— when faced with rejection, he's... silent. with an unreadable expression on his face. but under that unreadable face of his, he feels... betrayed. perhaps by his own resolution, that he let his heart and soul be vulnerable for someone who won't even accept his love. but he can't bring himself to blame you, he doesn't have reigns over you nor does he truly want to.

— "... i see." from there, you either leave on your own, leaving an awkward but oddly sorrowful silence as dark cacao just... stands there. he silently accepts the rejection but not in a hollyberry kinda way, in a "this was inevitable, i can't change how a cookie like them thinks anyway" kinda way.

— he regrets ever having his heart out in the open, for relaxing for even a moment for a little laugh to escape his mask for even just a second only because it was you and that he didn't know he would experience such a thing as he has right now.

— though he does get over you and the whole "embarrassing situation" at SOME point, it has long lasting effects on the way he percieves you in the same way he felt about clotted cream. he's more distant and silent around you, and its clear he does not open up or laugh with you/smile around you the same way he used to when he liked you before the rejection.

— he's less enthusiastic around you and wayy more distant than he usually is, which leads to his subjects (i mean like crunchy chip and caramel arrow maybe) being less than trusting of you. with the way he stays silent with a pensive expression, perhaps a side eye or two, it leave you and the other ancients to wonder what happened to him to have him so affected.

— "what?! am i hearing this right?! you're rejecting me?! golden cheese cookie?! the goddess of eternal gold herself?!"

— that pretty much sums up her reaction to being rejected, widened eyes, heightened speech and all. honestly, she's just in denial. you really rejected her? did you not like the cheese dishes she served you, or the tricks she did in the republic just for you? maybe you didn't see them or...

— yeah no, you definitely didn't reject her, she's just hearing thi— ...oh, you did reject her.

— you were the first to leave. she definitely made efforts to make you stay, trying to figure out where she went wrong before you had to say it for yourself. you just left, leaving a shocked and exasperated golden cheese there to stand. she doesn't stand for long because she leaves and migrates away after like a few minutes of getting over her shock.

— truly and to her, it was a reality check. i mean, you do respect her as an ancient hero, as a god, as a queen... just not as your girlfriend. when you've lived for years and years surrounded by people who love and worship you, it's stunning to witness, and not in a good way.

— i can't see her being the aggressive type (or atleast not the type to be violent), but if you were to get aggressive, she'd definitely get a little riled up. she's more than capable of fighting back if you do attack (even then i'm sure you're still in the right mind to not attack an ancient hero with soul jam and years of experience fighting). she's more so relying and hoping that her attacks and shouts/demands/whatever comes out of her mouth will bring you to the right mind.

— truth be told, being next to you even as a friend is a bit uncomfortable for golden cheese, but she gets over it... eventually. she's just more awkward but more normal than most. she and dark cacao are probably the most affected by the rejection but it isnt much to say cuz the other three are literally 99.99% normal even after the rejection.

— white lily cookie 🕊️ ᯓ★

— we know the soft, gentle and thoughtful white lily cookie has little to no regards about love in her life. she's more concerned about why cookies exist instead of enjoying her existence, after all. but what happens to her when her heart ends up being captured by a cookie?

— it wasn't her intention to make her feelings clear, goodness, no! but maybe she wasn't as good at hiding her feelings as she thought (but maybe that was because she was too caught up in it...). that little frown, the way the shine and love in her eyes disappeared and was replaced with regret and sorrow, even the lily of her head wilted a bit...

— lily felt truly heart-rended. as anyone else would, of course, but she has never fallen in love before. she's seen it, and she may have been curious enough to try love potions on herself, but it never felt the same as the true love she's seen. and now, when she's fallen head over heels with a cookie, they reject her love...

— see, this is literally why she friendzoned vanilla.

— not gonna lie, white lily would be a little frightened if you were the aggressive type. it's nothing she could handle herself, she was an ancient hero, after all.

— just like dark cacao, she regrets ever opening up her heart to others. she should've stayed in her greenhouse, researching the origins of cookies and all... and yet, here she is, crying to her lilies who have also cried tears of their own. how pitiful, an ancient hero sobbing over a rejection... it's an experience surely everyone has experienced, but why was she crying over you? she's an ancient hero, she mustn't be here kneeling over soggy lilies sobbing over a cookie her heart has fallen for...

— alas, even if she were able to befriend you again (or even talk to you again after the rejection), she wouldn't push anything against you if you truly didn't love her. of course she'd still feel dejected over it, but she wouldn't push anything between you two. she'll take anything she can get, even if it's just a conversation as friends or even less. just please don't be her enemy, anything but that... her heart can't take fighting the cookie she loves the most.... how ironic.

a/n: I heed into 💘 anon's request but make it painful and a bit of angst here and there ;))

There is a time where the kingdom of gold itself isn't in a land of misery and emptiness. Streets bussing into pleasantries from other cookies to the screams of happiness from the little cookies who played within the kingdoms streets. To some, it's a nuisance to have such noise as early in the early rays of sunlight spreading through the parmesan dessert. But to some, like you and your wife, it's like a melody ringing through your heads as you both watched it's streets from the above.

Before you became Golden Cheese's spouse, you deeply admired her, not only as a ruler but also a model towards the younger cookies of her kingdom; her leadership, her strong sense of responsibility towards her people, her stubbornness and the definite model for beauty and brains. Out of all of her features, her wings are the most beautiful feature she has; a symbol of her high status and the highest form of being within her kingdom.

She loved it when you always compliment her wings, pride swelling off her chest. In fact, you still remembered the time when she carries you into the skies on your wedding night.

Many would say that the marriage is arranged, yes. Considering that you are just a mere guard who protected the young cheesebirds who are still in the process into becoming stronger like their kind but to the both of you, it's a marriage filled with so much love and happiness. A marriage that you wished for every single cookie of your wife's kingdom would flourish as many young lovers partake of your words of wisdom and guidance (about how to achieve the kind of love your wife has for you).

Life is a bliss within the Golden Cheese Kingdom....

Until the war broke out which sent your people into a state of panic. Fear and Scarcity aroses as many cookie tend to store previous goods in their homes. Children are crying, clinging into their parents and loved ones as they reassured the little ones that their warrior queen will protect them all. This is the time Golden Cheese sensed that both you and her precious cookies are in dire need of protection from Dark Enchantress's forces of evil.

The solution?

She needs to leave the kingdom's walls and fight alongside with the other rulers of various kingdoms on EarthBread.

You became scared for your wife. You pleaded, begged for her to not leave you and even offered to join her in her battle. She declined the offer, saying that she could not bare the thought of you getting injured within the hands of Dark Enchantress Cookie or worse.

"I need someone to watch over the kingdom while I am gone, my jewel. The cookies need you more than ever." She spoke, wiping your tears from your now reddened face. "I am just scared, Golden Cheese." This made the queen's heart break but by bit as she heard your fading voice that is laced with sadness and worry. "Scared of what, Reader Cookie?" You looked into her eyes, calming down for a bit upon seeing the soft look on her face. "I am scared for the cookies, the kingdom, the gold and for you. I am scared for you, my queen." You cried, gripping into her hand. "What if you don't come back? What if you became nothing but bits of crumbs left from your body? What if-" Words are cut off as soon as she hugged you tightly as possible, knowing that time is limited when such crisis is coming.

"You do not need to fear for my wellbeing, darling. For I will return victorious and we'll from this battle." She continues. "Rest assured that we'll have a picnic as a way to celebrate our anniversary when I arrive back home." Golden Cheese reassures you as her arms are still around you, kissing your head and felt the love that radiated from her spouse.

"Stay strong for me, my jewel. Promise?"

"I promise, love."

That is a bittersweet memory she kept with her mind as she returned back from the war, eager to meet and kiss you again like she use to and seeing the shimmering gold treasures and the cookies of her kingdom.

Until she saw the wasteland of what little remains of her kingdom was left.

It was silent and gray. Golden Cheese stood still as a rock, processing on what is happening and whether it's only a nightmare that projects her worse fear.

It's not sadly, this is reality and it struck her hard like a bar of gold into her head. She lost everything that her heart desires the most; her gold, her palace, her cookies-

Wait...

Where are you? Where is the cookie that is considered as the love of Golden Cheese Cookie?

She searched for you desperately, despite there is nothing but crumbs and ash left within it's grounds. Until she saw your tiara and your dough crumbs underneath the palace's remains. She cried in anger, cried in anguish as she screamed for your painful death.

Holding that was once left of you, her knees dropped to the ground and cried as if the witches heard her pleas to bring everything back; not only her kingdom, her treasures, her cookies, her friends but also her most important and precious treasure of all, her beloved Reader Cookie. Golden Cheese Cookie promises herself that she will build a new kingdom where time stands still and no cookie shall experience the loss and hardships this war caused.

Until then, she will take ahold of your tiara as a promise that she will never replace you with anyone. She would pray that when she passed on, she will be with you in the hands of the afterlife and reunite with the cookie she loves the most.

But there is a report from another cookie claiming that there is a cookie residing within a local village who looks exactly the same with the ancient's spouse....

— during the gathering, golden cheese was probably was the one who was most excited (and couldn't wait) for the "opening of presents" part of the gathering. undoubtedly, everyone who got presents from the golden sovereign got something extremely lavish and extravagant, but of course her treasure would get their most special one.... later tonight. hopefully you can wait until later tonight, your efforts will be rewarded consequently...

— you'll get presents on the day of the gathering, a more personal & private one later that night, and on actual christmas day ! expect it to be expensive too. what do you expect out of your beloved golden queen, except for the best?

— he also gives out presents and the like to the needy and poor cookies in the vanilla kingdom, and i reckon a feast was held outside in the middle of the vanilla kingdom for the hungry while pure vanilla healed the hurt and gave out presents.

— he plays the role of santa claus without actually dressing up as santa, in the sense that he gives out presents to a lot of cookies every year.

— a warm and cozy christmas spent quiet cuddling with you amidst a crackling fireplace, muffled gentle christmas carols played softly outside. the windows are frosted, the castle is decorated appropriately, and the 25th is right around the corner. time was spent engaging in quiet but meaningful conversations about the future together and the ambitions that'll lead you onto the future, or maybe it was just a comfortable silence spent cuddling with eachother. that's what christmas looks like to pure vanilla cookie. with you, he's more than happy he doesn't have to spent christmas alone anymore (not that he minded before), but more so because it was you he got to spend it with. and he'd like to spend the rest of his christmases and his life with you and you alone.

— and so, the party started hours ago. however, white lily is still here in her greenhouse overthinking who she could bring to the party. back at the party, the ancients were probably looking for her. truth be told, lily was thinking of bring you, her best friend, along to the party but wanted to avoid all sorts of questions from cookies thinking lily had a lover, and she thought you'd be made uncomfortable by it. that's the last thing she wanted, but she had to attend, her friends were there and probably looking for her...

— "my friend... i'd like to invite you to a party me and my old friends have planned to celebrate Christmas together... uhm, would you like to.. come with me?"

— so now about 30 minutes of getting ready rapidly later and about an hour (or two) and a half of not being at the party, white lily finally shows up to the party, your hand discreetly intertwined in hers (you initiated it to comfort lily knowing her overthinking habits) as you two enter the party.

— and not a few minutes later, the questions declared their arrival, questions like "you two are so cute together! how did you two meet?" "do you plan on marriage anytime soon?" "aww, they're your lover?". lily had to explain with a cherry red face that you were only her best friend that she brought along because she didn't have an s/o.

— throughout the party, white lily was mostly a wallflower who was barely there in the head, always daydreaming unless you were the one to talk to her. thus, they were adamant on keeping her involved through you. rest assured, your efforts didn't go to waste.

— her gift to you would be something heartfelt and meaningful rather than expensive. think a handwritten letter with a strong lily scent expressing her feelings and appreciation for you, a lily shaped piece of jewelry; think a necklace or a hair brooch, a homemade treat with her very own recipe on the side, or just something you've been expressing interest to (a book/series of books, game, etc.).

— she's the type of best friend who best friend-ed so hard she made it to family gatherings. on the 25th, instead of spending christmas with her lilies at her greenhouse, she was invited to your family's christmas gathering by yours truly (aka you). seeing that your family was so warm and welcoming towards her, despite her quiet nature and strong lily scent. she didn't have to feel like a wallflower this year, seeing as her friends were all busy with someone else.

— astronaut's msg ; there is no "as ur s/o..." because everything would be the same except everything is in a romantic sense (and lily isn't anxious about bringing to you to the party)
